Glass bowl by Hutschenreuther, founded 1814. Tortoiseshell pattern in amber and dark brown. Mouth-blown glass. Hutschenreuther began as a porcelain manufacturer in Bavaria and expanded into glass in the twentieth century. The tortoiseshell technique involves layering coloured glass to create the spotted effect.
